Whatever we regularly focus on and think about grows and thrives!
One of the most powerful ways to maintain a burning desire to achieve your goals and fulfil your dreams is to spend a short time each day imagining what you want as clearly as possible. With practice, the picture becomes clearer and more detailed, and your brain finds it easier to bring it to mind. The clearer the image, the stronger the emotions it evokes — and therefore the stronger your drive.
The secret is to do it properly. The key is to evoke the strongest emotions you can during the visualisation. We do this by using our breathing and body language energetically while listening to the video's soundtrack, which is designed to inspire strong, positive feelings.
Instructions:
Stand in a strong power pose, as shown in the picture. Tense your muscles as though celebrating a victory that means everything to you. Keep your back straight, shoulders back and both feet firmly planted, with your weight evenly distributed. Use all 43 facial muscles to smile as you do when you feel real joy. Lift your chin. Throughout the exercise, breathe slowly and steadily, in through your nose and out through your mouth. Hold this strong posture from the beginning of the soundtrack to the end.
Imagine that you have already achieved your goal and think of it as a happy memory. Recall exactly what happened when you reached it. Picture who was with you, who celebrated with you, how you smiled, where it happened and what you were doing at the precise moment you realised you had succeeded. Let your mind explore different images and scenes from this wonderful memory of achieving your goal. Think of it with gratitude and pride: these are powerful emotions.
With practice, the picture becomes clear and the positive emotions grow stronger. Your brain gradually becomes convinced that reaching this goal will bring you a strong sense of wellbeing — and BOOM! It becomes intent on making the dream a reality, producing neurotransmitters and hormones that create a powerful drive. Working towards the goal then becomes almost irresistible.
Please note: few people see a complete picture or film in their mind the first few times they try this. Each time you repeat the process, the image becomes a little clearer, gains detail and develops. Do not worry if it seems not to work immediately. Trust your brain and subconscious to do the rest. Simply practise this visualisation regularly until you feel your interest turn into a burning desire.
